.NETでGmailを使ってメールを送信する

メールの送信をホストに頼るのではなく、Gmailアカウントを使ってメールメッセージを送信しようと考えていました。そのメールは、私の番組で演奏するバンドへのパーソナライズされたメールです。それは可能でしょうか？

非推奨のSystem.Web.Mailではなく、System.Net.Mailを使うようにしてください。System.Web.Mail`でSSLを使うのは、ハックキーな拡張機能の総体的な混乱です。

上記の回答ではうまくいきません。DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network`を設定しないと、"client was not authenticated"というエラーで戻ってきます。また、タイムアウトを設定することもお勧めします。
